Profile

Research Expertise

I am an assistant professor (and section coordinator) Urban Development Management at Delft University of Technology. My research expertise lies in “sustainable private sector-led urban development projects” with a specialisation in public-private partnerships and real estate development. I am fascinated by the role private sector actors (real estate developers, investors and entrepreneurs) increasingly perform in making  real estate, urban places and cities more sustainable. Therefore, I aim to understand private sector decision-making logics and strategic business drivers for developing and investing in sustainable urban projects, as well as the role public sector actors can play in stimulating such practices and behaviour. I have wide experience in international comparative research (mainly in Anglo-Saxon countries, UK, US, AUS, CAN, HK), European research projects, and professional research for Dutch Ministeries, municipalities, and companies. Currently I am participating in the TranCiBo project investigatint transitional change towards circular construction practices, and the Stedelijke Transformatie project focusing on managing Dutch urban transformations.
