Introduction to Delft
Introduction programme for international students
The Central International Office, the Faculties and Dutch and international students from TU Delft welcome the new international students to TU Delft with a special introductory programme. All new international students are required to take part in this mandatory introduction programme. This programme consists of an online preparation before arrival and an intensive introduction on Campus at TU Delft during the last two weeks of August:
- Before arrival:
Online preparation: a good preparation beforehand is very important for a smooth start of life and studying in Delft and the Netherlands. And it takes a while to get prepared. The online community ‘Delftulip’ offers you information about subscription, guidelines and checklists for practical preparation, information on enrolment at TU Delft, life in the Netherlands, Delft and TU Delft. In this online community you can get into contact with other students, exchange videos and photos, or ask any question you have. The FAQ and chat sessions on specific issues will deal with most of your questions.
You will receive an invitation to join Delftulip as soon as you are (conditionally) admitted.
- Meet & Greet at Schiphol Airport
Employees of the Central International Office and students of TU Delft will give you a special welcome when you arrive at the Meet and Greet days at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. They will meet you in the Arrivals hall, give you information about your travel and guide you to a bus that will take you to Delft. In Delft you will get an information package and the keys to your accommodation (if you arranged your accommodation through TU Delft Housing service). A coach of the Introduction Programme will then take you to your accommodation and assist you with getting settled. Any student will tell you that this service is unique to TU Delft, and it means that you don’t need to worry at all about your arrival in Delft.
During the Introduction Programme, a temporary one-stop shop is set up where you can make all the arrangements you need, as a new student in Delft. You will receive a personal appointment for this registration, stating the date and time. At the appointment, you will be able to take care of the following:
- your health insurance policy;
- registration as a citizen of Delft, The Hague, or Schiedam;
- information regarding your Dutch bank account;
- registration as a student of TU Delft
- Introductory Programme
Finding your way in a new country, meeting fellow students and being confronted with a new culture and a new language is a great experience and very exciting. When you have arrived in Delft, an enthusiastic team of fellow Dutch and International students, will be there to introduce you to:
- The campus and student facilities;
- Teaching methods and cultural differences;
- Social life, language classes and exploring the city of Delft.
- You will be assigned a coach, who will guide you through this extensive Introductory Programme.
The Introduction Programme also includes an introduction at your faculty, an introduction to the ICT infrastructure at TU Delft and the configuration of your laptop.
