Studying at the TU Delft
The university
Ready for a great future at TU Delft? Want to invent the top-speed solar vehicle? Build an impressive skyscraper made of flexible glass? Or perhaps discover a new medicine against cancer. TU Delft is a renowned Dutch university conducting cutting-edge research and providing first-class education at graduate and postgraduate levels. Students have outstanding facilities and plenty of individual guidance and counseling. The Netherlands has thirteen such state universities, three of which are specialised in the engineering sciences, TU Delft is the oldest and largest of these. It is also signatory to the national ‘Code of conduct with respect to International Students in Dutch Higher Education’.
The city
Delft is a safe, attractive, and historic town with a vibrant student life: outdoor cafes and restaurants that match the student’s budget, fine cinemas. All easy to find and in walking distance. No other student city has so many active student, sport and cultural associations. As Delft is based in the urban west of the Netherlands (Randstad), cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague are all within easy reach. Just take one of the many trains, anytime, as they also run at night.
The country
The Netherlands (or Holland) is a relatively small country, neighbouring Germany, Belgium and across the North Sea the United Kingdom. With a population of over 16 million, it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Though the national language is dutch, most adults speak good English and understand German and some French.
