Ailsa Craigen

My name is Ailsa Craigen and I am doing my Master of Science in Architecture at TU Delft. I completed my Bachelor of Architectural Science at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. I decided to come to TU Delft for not only their high-ranking globally, but also because of the fantastic facilities, widely international student body, and plethora of academic and extra-curricular options available to students. I believe that a global perspective to architecture as well as many other fields is an invaluable asset in today’s demanding working market, and the opportunity to study in a place such as Delft is an experience that cannot be easily passed up.

The process of applying to a school abroad can be quite daunting; from questions about admissions requirements to doing your first international e-transfer payment, having your concerns answered by someone who has already gone through it all can be extremely beneficial. This is where I come in; I chose to become a part of the Ambassador Program because I was fortunate enough to have that same help when I applied.

Since beginning at Delft, I’ve gone on biking trips around the Netherlands and other trips to neighbouring countries – something I highly recommend taking advantage of! As a Canadian, within two hours of travel you can still be in the same city let alone province, in Europe you could be in a different country! To best take advantage of this I suggest getting a bike ASAP as well as an OV-Chipkaart (the transportation card used in the Netherlands).

If you have any questions about what it’s like at TU Delft and the Netherlands, the application process, or anything really, feel free to contact me!
