PhD-student Nadya Chakrova has published a paper in the special issue of the Journal of the Optical Society of America A on optical super-resolution techniques [Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 33, pp. B12-B20, 2016, co-authors Bernd Rieger and Sjoerd Stallinga] on deconvolution methods for structured illumination microscopy. In particular, the joint Richardson-Lucy (jRL) method was compared to the pattern-illuminated Fourier Ptychography (piFP) method, using multi-spot scanned image sets acquired with a DMD-based structured illumination setup. Both methods are iterative deconvolution methods which make them suitable for arbitrary illumination patterns. It turns out that piFP is faster and gives an object independent resolution improvement, while jRL works best for sparse objects.
