TU Delft ontvangt als eerste internationale universiteit de Lockheed Martin Excellence Award
Fort worth, Texas, 11 oktober 2018 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) heeft aan de faculteit Luchtvaart- en Ruimtevaarttechniek van de TU Delft en GKN Aerospace de ‘Quality Excellence Award’ uitgereikt. De uitreiking vond plaats tijdens een ceremonie voor hun deelname aan het Lockheed Martin-TU Delft stageprogramma voor Nederlandse studenten.
Lockheed Martin’s Vice President of Quality and Mission Success, Dan Pleshko reikte de prijs uit en benadrukte het belang van samenwerking tussen industrie, onderwijs en beleidsmakers.
“Deze prijs erkent organisaties die zich continu inzetten voor verbetering en waarden laten zien die innovatie, klantrelaties en menselijke ontwikkeling bevorderen, en tegelijk streven naar industrie-, onderwijs- of kwaliteitsverbeteringen. Onze organisaties werken al bijna vijftien jaar samen en ik ben zeer verheugd dat de TU Delft de eerste internationale universiteit is die Lockheed Martin’s Quality Excellence Award ontvangt,” zegt Pleshko.
“We zijn vereerd deze prestigieuze Quality Excellence Award te ontvangen. Het onderstreept het grote succes en het belang van ons stageprogramma. Voor onze studenten is een stage bij Lockheed Martin de kans van hun leven, waarin ze leren samenwerken in een zeer internationale, professionele en inspirerende omgeving," zegt Dr. Henri Werij, decaan, faculteit Luchtvaart- en Ruimtevaarttechniek aan de TU Delft.
"Ik ben ook heel trots op hun waardevolle bijdragen aan Lockheed Martin. Het is een win-win situatie voor Lockheed Martin, GKN Aerospace en de TU Delft. Binnen het concept van dit programma waarderen onze afgestudeerde studenten de mogelijkheid om zichzelf te kunnen ontwikkelen en innovatief te zijn,” voegt Werij toe.
Meer dan 100 stagiairs deden al mee aan het Nederlandse Lockheed Martin-TU Delft stageprogramma dat in 2003 is gestart. Het biedt techniek- en wetenschapsstudenten de kans om ervaring op te doen door mee te werken aan het F-35 programma. Het programma wordt gefaciliteerd door het in Nederland gevestigde GKN-Fokker bij Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth
“Het stageprogramma draait om relaties en heeft de TU Delft studenten een uitstekende kans geboden hun vaardigheden en kennis in te zetten voor de Nederlandse industrie,” zegt Emmaly Sibbes, Head of EU and NL External Relations GKN Aerospace. “We kijken ernaar uit dit programma voort te zetten en uit te breiden en zo steeds op innovatieve wijze bij te dragen aan een goed geschoolde beroepsbevolking in Nederland.”
