The LDE Centre for Frugal Innovations in Africa  has received a NIAS Lorentz grant to organise a workshop on “Capturing Frugal Innovation: Towards a Handbook on the Crossroads of Technology, Entrepreneurship and Global Sustainable Development”.
The workshop aims to bring together well-known authors that will contribute to a Handbook on Frugal Innovations as well as other key participants in the frugal innovation debate. Frugal innovations aim ‘to do more and better with less’.

About the workshop

The workshop has three goals. Firstly, the workshop allows authors to peer review each other’s contributions to the Handbook. Secondly, the workshop aims to stimulate cross-fertilization among authors by bringing together scholars from various disciplinary backgrounds, including technology, innovation and engineering studies, industrial design, (development) economics, law, anthropology, sociology, political science and humanities. Thirdly, the workshop aims to produce an ambitious future research agenda on frugal innovation that can lay the foundations for more systematic multidisciplinary collaborative research initiatives.  The workshop takes place from 11 – 15 February 2019.

The editors of the Handbook are Cees van Beers (TBM, TU Delft), Peter Knorringa (Erasmus University), Andre Leliveld (Leiden University) and Saradindu Bhaduri (Jawaharlal Nehru University, India).
