Passionate about science communication? We’re looking for FameLab candidates!

Registration now open for the 2019 Delft FameLab heat on Wednesday, April 3rd

Nieuws - 29 november 2018 - Webredactie Communication

FameLab aims to discover enthusiastic, up-and-coming scientists who want to inspire people to see the world from a new perspective… in just three minutes! If you think you can explain a scientific concept, on stage, to a general audience in this very short time - or if you want to learn how to do this! - , then register for the TU Delft FameLab heat, which will take place on Wednesday, April 3rd 2019 in Theater De Veste. You could become the new face of science, represent the Netherlands at the FameLab International finals in the UK, and open doors to national and global opportunities in science communication!

This will be the second edition in Delft, after a successful start in April this year. Check out this impression of the 2018 Delft heat.

TU Delft FameLab 2018

Training

We have room for 16 young scientists/engineers. Registration is open for researchers from both inside and outside TU Delft. Those participating will also receive a very special and exciting presentation training before the event, organized by Martijn Wackers, presentation coach at TU Delft ITAV, and TU Delft Library communication manager and performance poet Najiba Abdellaoui (winner of the 2008 NK Poetry Slam). The FameLab organization was very impressed with the high level of all our competitors in our first edition, which says something about the high level of this intensive training!

Logistics

The first part of the training will take place on Tuesday, March 5th and the second part two weeks later on Tuesday, March 19th 2019; both will take up the whole morning, and we highly recommend taking part in both of them, so check your calendar before entering.
Should you make it through as winner of the Delft FameLab heat, the National Final will be on Thursday, May 9th 2019. You must also be available to participate in FameLab’s own Masterclass on April 11th and 12th 2019.
