TU Delft Launches Solar Energy Potential Website

Nieuws - 12 maart 2018 - Webredactie Communication

The Dutch Photovoltaic Energy Portal 2.0 (PVP 2.0) offers the most comprehensive overview of the potential for utilization of solar energy in the Netherlands so far.

The PVP 2.0 is designed for everybody who is interested to know more about solar energy. The website offers a multitude of functionalities: the option to design a PV system at any location in the Netherlands, an economic profitability analysis for designed PV systems, freely accessible datasets for PV system modelling, and a real-time estimate of the electricity production in The Netherlands from available solar energy. The website has been created within the TU Delft PVMD research group as part of a MSc thesis project carried out by Mr. Veikko Schepel under the supervision of associate professor dr. Olindo Isabella. By combining state-of-the art research in photovoltaics with real-time measurements of KNMI’s Dutch weather stations, the website provides users with scientifically accurate, informative, and publicly accessible information about solar energy. With the Dutch PV Portal 2.0, the TU Delft and the PVMD group aim to increase the public understanding of the potential of solar energy and accelerate widespread application of PV technology for electricity generation.
