TU Delft transportation studies once again in Top 3

TU Delft remains one of the leading universities in the Transportation Science & Technology field. TU Delft was been awarded the 3rd place in the Shanghai Ranking 2019. The total score for our university was 272.2 points, slightly higher than last year. Beijing Jiaotong University and Tsinghua University remained in first and second place.

The score of 272.2 points is a combination of different indicators. The top scoring university gets all points, the other universities gets awarded a percentage share of the total score. To arrive at the sub score for each indicator, the square root of the percentage is taken and multiplied by the specific weight factor.

PUB is the first indicator for the ranking. It is the number of papers authored by the institution during the period 2013-2017. TU Delft remains the top scoring institution for this indicator.

The second indicator is CNCI, the Category Normalized Citation Impact is the ratio of citations of papers published during period 2013-2017 to the average citations of papers (in the same category). TU Delft got a score of 70.7 points, higher than last year. Peking University, China remains the top scoring institution.

IC, International Collaboration, is the third indicator. It is determined by taking the number of publications that have been found with at least two different countries in the addresses of the authors, divided by the total number of publications for the university during 2013-2017. TU Delft got a score of 71.6, a little higher compared to last years 70.1. King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia remains the top scoring institution.

Finally, the last indicator is TOP. TOP is the number of papers published in Top Journals for an institution during the period 2013-2017. Top 20% journals are defined as their Journal Impact Factors in the top 20% of each Web of Science category according to Journal Citation Report (JCR) 2017. Top scoring institution is Beijing Jiaotong University, China. TU Delft got 87.1 points.
