Hind Rattan Award for Kumar Anupam

Dr. Kumar Anupam has been awarded the prestigious Hind Rattan (‘Jewel of India’) Award for 2020, for his contribution to the pavement engineering sector. The Hind Rattan is awarded to Indian nationals who have made exceptional contributions to society.

Kumar’s current research focusses on developing a methodology to help road asset managers to better predict functional health deterioration over time of a pavement by using big-data tools in combination with real-time monitoring systems and various material models with the ultimate aim of proposing a safe, comfortable and durable pavements. The Hind Rattan Award is one of the highest Indian diasporic awards granted annually to non-resident persons of Indian origin by the NRI welfare society of India.

The medal was presented to Dr. Anupam by her Excellency Smt. Meira Kumar, 15th speaker of parliament (Lok Sabha) & a former union minister, and the certificate was presented by His Excellency Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, UAE. The ceremony was held in the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, in New Delhi in the presence of senior members/officials of the Indian government and Supreme Court, international ambassadors, and other important dignitaries.
