TU Delft | Global Initiative is looking for students to join its first ever Student Club Board!

Nieuws - 21 mei 2021

Are you interested in sustainable global development? Do you think research and technology are important in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals? Do you want to make a difference? Are you a TU Delft BSc or MSc student? Then we are looking for you!

TU Delft | Global Initiative is the platform for science and global development at TU Delft. We actively support researchers and students who are working on solving urgent global challenges, particularly in Sub-Saharan African and South(east) Asia. From floating homes in the Philippines to easy-to-use diagnostic tools for tropical diseases, we believe that concrete solutions to worldwide problems can only be found with an interdisciplinary approach and in close cooperation and co-creation with local partners.

This summer we will set up our very own Student Club, with an “official” launch of the club at the beginning of academic year 2021-2022. We are looking for three motivated students with an interest in global development who want to join our student board for at least a year, starting from July/August 2021.

Why join?
As a board member, you will work closely together with the staff of the TU Delft | Global Initiative to promote the initiative and its research and education activities among students of TU Delft (and other stakeholders such as universities, companies, and embassies). You will get the chance to empower students to have a positive influence on sustainable global development. You will gain experience in organizing events and extracurricular activities such as workshops, excursions and field trips, communication with internal and external stakeholders, sponsoring/fundraising, project management, and you will be part of an interesting network at TU Delft and in the field of engineering for global development.

Tasks
We foresee the following tasks for the Student Club Board, but nothing is set in stone. As a first-ever board member you will help build the club and its activities and you can therefore have a lot of influence on shaping the strategy together with TU Delft | Global Initiative.

  • Communications & Events (Communications & Events Officer)

  • Collecting internships & thesis opportunities (Project & Administration Officer)

  • Internal & External Relations (Chair)

  • Including alumni relations

  • Financial responsibility (Chair)

Salary
The three board positions will be partly paid positions. This means you will be hired as a student assistant for one year at a maximum of 6 hours a week, though we may expect you to invest some of your own time (up to 4 extra hours a week) if necessary.

How to apply
To apply for a position, please send your CV and a motivation letter (max 1 page) to delftglobal@tudelft.nl by 4 June latest. Please include in your letter what activities you are most interested in (e.g. Communication, organizing events, coordinating internship activities, etc.). We will hold interviews in the week of 14 June and you will hear if you are selected by begin July. For questions, please feel free to contact Sophie Oostelbos at s.f.oostelbos@tudelft.nl.
