Dutch Design Week (DDW): it’s one of the highlights of the European design calendar and an event in which IDE design research plays a prominent role together with 4TU.Design United.

This year, DDW runs from 22-30 October and as is tradition, you can expect a stellar programme from Design United featuring researchers and projects from IDE and TU Delft.

Design United EXPO TRANSITIONS (22 – 30 October)

First up is the Design United Expo TRANSITIONS. You’ll be able to stop by this interactive installation between 22 – 30 October in Eindhoven’s Klokgebouw. At the EXPO you’ll have the opportunity to see and experience top design research from the four Dutch technical universities.

This year Design United EXPO will focus on five contemporary themes in design: More than Human Design, Futuring, Politics of Design, Entanglements with AI, and Neo Craftsmanships. Each of the installations will shed light on how design research can help tackle the societal challenges of today and tomorrow.

Design United Research Programme (24 – 28 October)

But that’s not all, for five consecutive days (24 – 28 October), Design United will fuel the debate around design research in the Microlab Eindhoven. Workshops, hackathons, discussions, and other engaging formats will be used to deep dive into the five themes mentioned above.

Keep an eye on the official Design United website to find out more about each day’s programme and how you can sign up to attend.

DRIVE Festival (24 – 28 October)

Just like last year, the Design Research & Innovation (DRIVE) Festival will take place in de Effenaar from 24 – 28 October (10:00 – 14:00). The festival is organized by CLICKNL and 4TU.Design United. If you attend, expect to see IDE researchers giving inspiring talks during DRIVE LIVE and leading great work sessions during DRIVE WORKS.
