Delft invention can double the life of batteries in smartphones and e-cars

Nieuws - 23 februari 2023

Researcher Marnix Wagemaker - one of the principle investigators of e4battery Delft - was interviewed by the Volkskrant: Delft invention can double the life of batteries in smartphones and e-cars as a result of this Nature publication. This was also picked up by the NOS.

β€œIt was an accidental discovery by TU Delft researchers, but one with potentially major consequences. In the future, the batteries of e-cars or smartphones, for example, could last twice as long.”

e4Battery Delft brings together researchers from all eight faculties, research infrastructure, public and private partners to further our battery technologies and hence contributing to developing green battery systems for the future. The mission is to develop enhance battery performance, reduce dependence of critical raw materials and use a circular design and engineering approach so that we can fully use, reuse and recycle our batteries.

On 11 May 2023 we organise the first e4battery Delft event where researchers will present their view and research on circulair battery technologies and its importance for the energy transition. Interested in what our researchers are doing or if you want to attend the event mail us at e4battery@tudelft.nl
