Computational modeling and parameter estimation in fixed beds

This research is fundamentally concerned with design aspects of fixed bed catalytic reactors. The main emphasis of this research is centered on the problem of lateral heat transfer in narrow tortuous structures. As the main remit, the role of random packings of shaped pellets in the hydrodynamics of the bed as well as wall-to-bed heat transfer is meticulously investigated at the pellet scale using a novel modeling approach, entitles coupled Rigid Body Dynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
