Heat Transformation Technology

Research

Within Heat Transformation Technology, at the department of Process and Energy of Mechanical Engineering (3ME) at TU Delft, we aim at sustainable and responsible use of thermal energy. We strive to maximise the socioeconomic impact of our research by working closely with both end-users and technology developers. While we aim at increasing the penetration and share of renewable energy in the mix, we also work on waste heat recovery, thermal energy storage (short- and long-term), and process intensification to ensure energy security and affordability. Under the auspices of this Chair, focused research on energy transition is conducted with commodifying heat at the centre of our activities. We use a combination of numerical, experimental, and theoretical tools to address both fundamental and practical challenges along the way.
