Speakers

Michael Buckley
directs the Real Estate Development Program at Columbia University, where he also heads the Center for High Density Development, a new initiative to prove the benefits of density, and researches the concept of science cities. As President of Halcyon Ltd, he has a reputation for mixed-use retail and strategic planning for underutilized sites.

Jo Coenen
is the principal of Jo Coenen & Co Architekten and directs the knowledge center for Modification, Intervention and Transformation in the Faculty of Architecture at the Delft University of Technology. He is the former Chief Government Architect of the Netherlands.

Francis Cuillier
directs the planning agency for the Municipality of Bordeaux, France. He previously worked for the urban planning agency of Strasbourg and was awarded the French urban planning award Grand Prix de l'Urbanisme in 2006.

Michael Joroff
is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's School of Architecture and Planning in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He consults, lectures, and teaches globally about the impact of new business models and emerging technology on the design of corporate workplaces and large-scale real estate developments.

Siim Kallas
is the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Audit and Anti-Fraud for the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium. He is responsible for the Offices for Infrastructure and Logistics in Brussels and Luxembourg.

Paolo Tombesi
teaches at the University of Melbourne, where he is an Associate Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning. He has consulted for the Department of Environment and Heritage of the Federal Government, and the Royal Australian Institute of Architects in Australia.

John Worthington
co-founded degw, a strategic design consultancy based in London, in 1973. He has pioneered methods of adapting urban and space planning techniques to meet the needs of the emerging knowledge economy. Recent assignments include high-rise building strategies for the cities of Rotterdam and Dublin, where he continues to advise both cities on managing the process of innovation and change.
