Uta Pottgiesser is benoemd tot hoogleraar Heritage & Technology. Ze zal het onderzoeksprogramma over de technische aspecten van architectuurerfgoed voortzetten, onderzoek dat van cruciaal belang is voor een goede restauratie van historische gebouwen.

Tijdens de laatste week van de Venetië Biënnale organiseerde BK Bouwkunde een feestelijke afsluiting van de onderzoekstentoonstelling BK Booths. De makers, studenten en collega’s, alumni en professionals ontmoetten elkaar in Palazzo Mora om de BK Booths te ontdekken.

The Resilient Island Foundation was founded by five students of BK Bouwkunde. Their goal is to implement a circular economy of food and waste in the world’s most isolated communities. Their first project ‘Maldives Matter’ was selected as one of the five finalists at the TEDx Award in Amsterdam, out of 200 applications.

Samen met de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) heeft BK Bouwkunde TU Delft een digitale lithotheek ontwikkeld. Hierin worden de uitgebreide natuursteencollecties van de RCE en de TU Delft ontsloten. Zo kunnen architecten, restauratoren en onderzoekers natuursteen eenvoudiger identificeren en toepassen.

Critical materials are materials which we need for current and future product technologies, but which are now or soon difficult to acquire. BK Bouwkunde is part of the consortium SusCritMat, which aims to educate people from industry and academia about important aspects on critical materials.

Students from BK Bouwkunde and the faculty of Industrial Design will develop a large scale, immersive interactive installation with artist and architect Philip Beesley. From 17 - 25 November 2018, the installation will be on display at the TU Delft Science Centre.

Het koelen van gebouwen slurpt energie en is vooral gericht op het bestrijden van de werking van de zon. Is zonne-energie en –warmte niet bruikbaar voor koeling? Promovendus Alejandro Prieto Hoces ontdekte dat zonnekoeling kansen biedt, maar zelden een eindoplossing is. Begin gewoon met een goede zonwering.

Glass bricks from recycled glass in organic shapes, designs for a hyperloop station in Amsterdam, and a chaise longue created from 3D robotic printing. These three projects from students and researchers of Architectural Engineering & Technology are now on display at the Dutch Design Week 2018.

Researchers from BK Bouwkunde TU Delft developed a functioning glass swing, together with Arup, Schott, and RAMLAB. Users of the Glass Swing are able to interact with the structure, a showcase of the structural potential of glass.

Drie BK alumni maken kans op de prijs voor aanstormend talent met mooie nieuwe ideeën op het gebied van transformatie en renovatie. Hedwig van der Linden, Lauren Boots en Nikki de Boer horen op 31 oktober 2018 wie van de in totaal vijf genomineerden de NRP Masterprijs 2018 wint.
