Admission & Application

Admission requirements

You will need at least a Master of Science degree or equivalent, preferably in the exact sciences. Excellent marks, being highly motivated and a design oriented attitude are vital.

Doing a EngD at TU Delft requires English proficiency at a certain level to ensure that the candidate is able to communicate and interact well, participate in English-taught courses, and write reports and a final thesis in English. As per 1 January 2022, TU Delft requires candidates for a EngD position to provide TOEFL or IELTS scores as part of the selection procedure. More details on the English proficiency requirement can be found here.

Application procedure

To apply for the EngD programme, there are two possible routes:

(1) Apply for a paid position
Sometimes paid positions become available for an EngD trainee to carry out the research. Whenever we have such positions, you can find them on our vacancy page.

(2) Open application

If there are no (suitable) vacancies you can always send an open application. You have to be either:

  • employed with your company willing to support this programme and the innovation project, or
  • self-funded and you have found a company willing to host you for the innovation project.

For both options you need to bring your own money.

You can apply by sending a completely filled out application form together with all the required documents to EngD-CEG@tudelft.nl.

Deadline for applications is May 1st 2024 for the programme starting September 1st 2024.

Selection

There will be an assessment and selection procedure before you can enter the programme. TU Delft uses strict selection criteria to ensure the required high quality of participants. Suitable candidates will be invited for an interview with the selection committee of the programme.
