  • Advisors: Dr. A.V. Metrikine, Prof.ir. J. Meek

Richard Ogink received his M.Sc. degree from the Delft University of Technology in 2003. His Ph.D. research on vortex-induced vibration of marine risers is a combined project of the Offshore Engineering Group and the Wave Mechanics Group of the Section of Structural Mechanics.

Research Interests

This Ph.D. project focuses on the modeling of vortex-induced vibration (VIV) with a wake-oscillator. The aim of the project is to develop a wake-oscillator model that will describe VIV not only qualitatively, but also quantitatively. With this model it will be possible to take account of nonlinear riser dynamics, which is especially of importance for deepwater risers.
