Dr. Y. (Yongli) Wu

Profiel

Yongli Wu is currently an Assistant Professor in the Section of Resources & Recycling, at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). He obtained his Bachelor's (Metallurgical Engineering) and Master's (Ferrous Metallurgy) degrees from Northeastern University (China) in 2013 and 2015, and his PhD (Chemical Engineering) from SIMPAS group of Monash University (Australia) in 2019. Prior to the current role, he conducted his postdoctoral research at SEU-Monash Joint Research Institute (China) and TU Delft (The Netherlands) between 2019 and 2023, and was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (SortCAS) in 2022.

Yongli is working on the technological development and the process design and optimization in the waste recycling and mineral processing industries, with particular interests including:

  • Digital recycling for the automated and optimized production of on-demand products
  • Physics-AI integrated smart technologies
  • Sensor-based sorting technologies
  • Computational modelling using DEM, CFD, and FEM etc.
  • Dynamics of particle/particle-fluid systems
  • Process design and optimization combining theoretical insights, computational modelling, and lab-scale/pilot-scale experiments

By applying fundamental science to innovative processes and implementing them in collaboration with the industry, our aim is to create breakthroughs in industrial applications, thus contributing to the circularity of materials and the sustainability of our world.
