Funding within the context of the SUCCEED programme, which combines the scopes of both themes of the GSE Department, Delft Subsurface Storage (DSS) and Geothermal Science and Engineering: The SUCCEED project is a targeted innovation and research activity which aims to facilitate the emergence of CCUS via transnational cooperation combined with sustainable geothermal energy production. It is an industrial CCUS demonstration project, which focuses on CO2 utilization and storage. It benefits from the existing facilities of producing geothermal fields at Kizildere in Turkey and Hellisheidi in Iceland. The project aims at accelerating and maturing CCUS technology application by developing, testing and demonstrating at field scale innovative measurement, monitoring and verification (MMV) technologies that can be used in most CO2 geological storage projects. Our activities mostly involve acoustic-mechanic calibration experiments in the Geoscience and Engineering Laboratory and the verification of acoustic field data obtained with a newly developed vibro-source.
