Appointment emeritus Professor S. Kroonenberg as visiting Professor in Suriname

Prof. Dr Salomon Kroonenberg, retired professor of geology at TU Delft, has been appointed from February 1, 2017 onward as visiting professor at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname, Faculty Technological Sciences, Department Production of Mineral Resources.

Best Graduate CEG: Joeri Brackenhoff

From the faculty CEG, Joeri Brackenhoff has been nominated as Best Graduate. He finished the master track Geophysics (within the master programme Applied Earth Sciences) and obtained his degree in august 2016. His thesis was about the Marchenko effect. Since his graduation he has started a PhD at the department of Geoscience & Engineering, where he is continuing his research.

BeachRock to defend vulnerable coastlines

A different approach is being researched at the Delft University of Technology to defend vulnerable coastlines. Below the surface a natural process helps gluing sand grains together. This process is started by a certain type of bacteria. Leon van Paassen and Dianne den Hamer are looking in to this phenomenon.

An article about Reflection imaging of the Moon's interior using deep-moonquake seismic interferometry

The internal structure of the Moon has been investigated over many years using a variety of seismic methods. In this article we propose to apply body-wave seismic interferometry to deep moonquakes in order to retrieve zero-offset reflection responses (and thus images) beneath the Apollo stations on the nearside of the Moon.
