NARSIS

The NARSIS project develops and tests risk assessment methodology starting from multiple natural hazards through to top events targted for the assessment of exitsing nuclear power stations. Following the Fukushima Daiichi accident, it was clear that new risk assessment methodologies linking natural hazards, geotechnical defences, human interactions, and the multiple barriers existing in nuclear power stations was needed. Our contribution to this project is in the use of Bayesian Networks for the assessment of risk, and exploring the applicability of them to geotechnical (flood) defences.
