Kolah Kaj, P.

Profile

Living in Iran and being surrounded by people working in the oil and gas industry have enticed me to start my bachelor’s in petroleum engineering in 2013 at Sharif University of Technology (Iran). After graduation in 2017, I held the position of junior reservoir engineer at Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC). In that time, I worked on the numerical modelling of geomechanical factors affecting the productivity of Iranian low permeability reservoirs. In 2019, I started my master’s in petroleum engineering-hydrocarbon reservoirs and changed my focus to petrophysics, pressure effect on petrophysical properties, and electrical rock typing.

Research

After receiving my master’s degree in 2021, I joined the department of geoscience and engineering. I am doing my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Hemmo Abels (Applied Geology section), Dr. Phil Vardon (Geo-engineering section), and Dr. Auke Barnhoorn (Applied Geophysics and Petrophysics section). The focus of my project is on improving geomechanical and thermal reservoir property prediction of Dutch geothermal plays and I attempt to create an innovative method using experimental and file data to predict the aforesaid properties accurately.
