Wouter Jan Klerk

Profile

Wouter Jan Klerk is a PhD researcher in the All-Risk research program on implementation of new risk standards in the Dutch flood protection program. He graduated in 2013 with a Masters in Civil Engineering of Delft University of Technology, with specialization Hydraulic Structures.

In 2013 he started working for Deltares, where he participated in several projects such as:

• Derivation of the new risk based safety standards for flood defences, based on societal risk.
• Calibration of several semi-probabilistic assessment rules for different types of revetments in the Netherland.
• Various projects on risk-based asset management of flood defences and hydraulic structures.
• Product Owner in the software development team of Hydra-Ring, the probabilistic computational core for the Statutory Safety Assessment of flood defences in the Netherlands.

Within the All-Risk project he will focus on developing a risk framework for optimizing flood risk reduction measures in time, for different spatial scales.
