A. Cabboi (Alessandro)

Alessandro Cabboi graduated from the Faculty of Construction Engineering of the University of Cagliari (Italy) in 2010. In 2014, at the same Faculty, he received a PhD degree in Structural Engineering defending his work on vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring of historic structures. Since 2014, Alessandro has been appointed as a post-doctoral researcher at different Universities: University of Cambridge (2014-2016), Imperial College London (2016) and University of Sheffield (2017). In October 2017, he started to work as a post-doctoral researcher at TU Delft.

His scientific interest is focused on solving engineering problems related to mechanical vibration. Additionally,  he acts as a reviewer for numerous international scientific journals.

The main topics of research in which Alessandro has been involved with over the years include:

  • Modelling the slip-joint connection for Offshore Wind Turbines (TU Delft);

  • Modelling and vibration-based damage detection of jointed structures (with the collaboration of the University of Oxford);

  • Modelling of friction-induced vibration, stability predictions, and friction force characterization (with the collaboration of the University of Cambridge);

  • Vibration monitoring and SHM of historic structures (with the collaboration of the Polytechnic of Milan);

  • Vibration testing: experimental and operational modal analysis.
