Ö. Sertlek (Özkan)

Dr. H.O. Sertlek

Özkan Sertlek received a B.Sc. degree in electronic engineering and the M.S. degree in underwater acoustic propagation from the Department of Gebze Technical University, Turkey in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He had a PhD degree in bioacoustics from University of Leiden (the Netherlands) in 2016 and another PhD degree in the analytic solutions of the time-domain pulse propagation problems from the Electronic Engineering Department of Gebze Technical University in 2019. Between 2006 and 2011, he was as a senior researcher at Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). In the summer of 2009, he was a research fellow at NATO Undersea Research Center (NURC). Between 2016 and 2019, he was a postdoctoral researcher with the Delphi Consortium. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Offshore Engineering section of the Hydraulic Engineering Department at the Delft University of Technology. His scientific interests include:

  • Analytical and numerical methods for the underwater acoustic/seismic/electromagnetic wave propagation problems
  • Modeling underwater sound sources (ships, explosions, seismic surveys, pile driving, wind, rain)
  • Seismic airgun array signature modelling (AGORA model)
  • Sound wave scattering from an arbitrary rough sea surface
  • Sound mapping for the environmental risk assessment studies
