T.C. Raaijmakers (Tim)
Since February 2016 Tim Raaijmakers started a part-time PhD position at the section of Offshore Engineering within the Department of Hydraulic Engineering. His research focuses on “Hybrid modelling of scour and scour mitigation for offshore wind support structures”, which is part of the STW-Perspectief program EUROS (Excellence in Uncertainty Reduction of Offshore wind Systems). In this research he will combine various modelling techniques (scale models, numerical models and field monitoring) to improve predictions for local scour development and the performance of various scour protection systems.
Tim Raaijmakers is also part-time employed by Deltares (since 2005), where he works as a senior consultant / researcher in offshore engineering, mainly related to fluid-structure-seabed interaction, seabed morphodynamics, scour and scour mitigation for foundations, cables and pipelines. Besides he is program manager of the offshore engineering research program (since 2011).
In 2005 Tim Raaijmakers graduated with distinction as a coastal engineer from Delft University of Technology. For his Master’s Thesis he conducted a study on submarine slope development of dredged trenches and channels for Boskalis (awarded with the ‘Waterbouwprijs 2006’).
