The group focuses on the modeling of civil and building engineering structures, both linear and non-linear. It comprises the generation and evaluation of finite element models. The challenge is to confront the structural behavior of lab tests and real world structures with a thorough understanding of the finite element analysis. This may require further improvements of the FE models, e.g. by adapting the material model or by changing the solution strategy. Students then locally extend software via user-supplied routines or scripts.
