Dr. S. (Shadi) Sharif Azadeh

Profile

Shadi Sharif Azadeh is an assistant professor at Civil Engineering and Geosciences faculty at TU Delft in the department of Transport & Planning. Previously, she held an assistant professorship position at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Econometrics department in the group of Operations Research and Logistics. 

She was a visiting professor at Industrial Engineering department at Georgia Tech. Previously, she held a postdoctoral position at Civil and Environmental Engineering at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) where she was a recipient of Marie Curie fellowship. She has been a visiting scholar and research affiliate to Civil and Environmental Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is currently affiliated to both institutions. She has a PhD in Mathematics from Polytechnique Montreal. She received doctorate excellency award at University of Montreal (CIRRELT) as well as Michael Florian Award for best PhD thesis research award in Canada. 
 

Research

Her areas of expertise include integration of operations research with behavioural models for transport, mobility and logistics networks. More precisely, her current major projects are related to combining revenue management, pricing and assortment optimisation methods to model supply and demand interactions especially in the context of last mile delivery and urban mobility systems. She develops algorithm for large-scale optimisation to solve industrial problems. She also uses AI in large-scale discrete optimisation in presence of uncertainty. Her research has been recognised by INFORMS as she has been the recipient of Early Career Award and best paper awards in 2017 and 2019 annual meetings.
