Dr. S.S.N. (Narayana) Raju
Profile
Narayana Raju, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral researcher under the SAMEN project. His research primarily focuses on traffic flow modeling, microscopic traffic simulation, flow theory safety analytics, traffic stability, etc. in connection with autonomous vehicles. Before joining TU Delft, he is a visiting researcher at Ryerson University, Canada supported by MITACS Global Research Award. During this, he focused on safety analytics with the help of deep learning. Narayana completed his doctoral research from SVNIT, India on driving behavior on heterogeneous traffic in the Indian context from vehicular trajectory data.
Research
Presently as a part of the SAMEN project, Narayana’s research focuses on testing, how autonomous vehicles are human driven vehicles interact in the mixed traffic stream under the guidance of Dr. Ir. Haneen Farah. Along with implementing the new knowledge on humans’ behavioral adaptation when interacting with AVs, and AVs behavioral models in an existing open-source simulation platform. Followed by assessing the implications of different scenarios on traffic flow efficiency and safety, and consequently propose recommendations regarding the infrastructure (physical and digital) requirements.
