Dr.ir. A. (Andreas) Hegyi

Dr. Andreas Hegyi is assistant professor at the Department of Transport & Planning. His research focuses on traffic flow modelling and control, connected and cooperative vehicles, traffic state estimation, and traffic data analysis. He is particularly interested in speed control for traffic flow improvement, and in designing control approaches for mixed environments, where roadside and in-car technologies, or automated and manually driven vehicles co-exist.

Hegyi received his PhD degree in 2004 from Delft University of Technology. Before re-joining TU Delft in 2005 he was a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University. He is the (co) author of over 100 papers. He is a member of IEEE and IEEE-ITSS, member of IFAC-CTS, and has served as Program Chair of the IEEE-ITSC 2013 conference and as General Chair of the IXth TRISTAN symposium 2016, and IPC member of various other conferences. He is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems and member of the Editorial Board of Transportation Research Part C.

He teaches Road Traffic Management and Control to MSc students, and advises several MSc and PhD students in their final thesis and research projects.
