S. (Subodh) Dubey

Profile

Subodh is a PhD student in Department of Transport and Planning, TU Delft. He works with Oded Cats in Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) project. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Anna University (India) in Civil engineering and a Master’s degree in Transportation engineering from BITS-Pilani (India). Prior to joining TU Delft, he has spent 4 years at UT Austin (Texas, US), one and half years at Institute for Choice (Sydney, Australia), and 15 months at Tiger Analytics (Chennai, India) as a senior Data Analyst.

Research

My current research involves analysing the potential effects of Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS). Specifically, the research will analyse effect on traffic in terms of congestion and demand satisfaction when MaaS is not only a competing mode but also a complimentary mode to existing public transit. The work will also analyse effect of dynamic pricing on demand and supply.

TxDOT Project 0-6766: A Generic Mode Choice Model Applicable for Small and Medium-sized MPOs

  • Developed a generic mode choice model.
  • In particular, I created transit skim in TRANSCAD, analyzed survey data and developed models. Further, a VB based DSS was also developed for aid in decision making.

TxDOT Project 0-6760: Improved Trip Generation Data for Texas Using Work Place and Special Generator Surveys

  • Developed a generic set of trip attraction rates for Texas using decade long workplace and special generator surveys as an alternative to Institute of Transportation Engineers’ (ITE) Trip Generation Manual.
  • My responsibilities: Gathered information on new factors (not included in previous models) and developed the models.

FHWA Project DTFH61-10-R-00036: A Tour-based National Model System to Forecast Long-distance Passenger Travel in the United States

  • Developed a tour-based micro-simulation model of annual long distance passenger travel for all households in the U.S. The framework schedules travel across a full year to capture business travel (conferences, meetings and combined business/leisure) and leisure travel (visiting friends and family, personal business and shopping, relaxation, sight-seeing, outdoor recreation, and entertainment).
  • In particular, I was responsible for estimation of participation and duration prediction model for non-business purposes (Tobit Model), scheduling of business and non-business trips (Multiple-Discrete Continuous Extreme Value Model), and party size and composition models (a set of count models).

Activity based Travel-Demand Analysis for Southern California Association of Governments

  • This project involved development of an activity based micro-simulator for analyzing the travel pattern of southern California.
  • Contributed in the development of a comprehensive econometric micro-simulator for socioeconomic, land use and transportation system (CEMSELTS) and a comprehensive econometric micro-simulator for daily activity-travel patterns (CEMDAP).

Implementing Advance Traveler’s Information System (ATIS) for Indian cities: Chennai

  • Conducted by: IIT Madras; Sponsored by: Dept. of Information Tech., Govt. of India.
  • Performed household and office surveys to understand people’s perception and expectations regarding ATIS.
  • Developed Advance Traveler’s Information System for Chennai city. In particular, I was responsible for development of web based module for data-storage, travel-time prediction algorithms and display of routes and messages on Google map.
