Traffic Flow Theory and Characteristics Committee (AHB45) 2020 Summer Meeting - TFT2020
August 17-19, 2020 – Amsterdam, the Netherlands

The summer meeting of the Traffic Flow Theory and Characteristics Committee of the Transportation Research Board will take place from 17-19 August 2020 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The summer meeting will be organized by the Delft University of Technology in cooperation with AMS, the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan solutions.

The main theme of the summer meeting will be urban traffic operations. With urbanization and densification of cities being one of the important trends, traffic operations in cities are becoming increasingly important. Next to its relevance, the scientific challenges related to urban traffic are daunting, for instance due to its complexity and its multi-modal (cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport) nature. The summer meeting will provide an excellent opportunity to bring together scholars and professionals to discuss the research agenda and share relevant research findings.

What's in store?

Next to the plenary talks, several demos and workshops/tutorials will be organised. More information will be provided in the coming months.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Active mode traffic operations
  • Advancing the NFD
  • Big urban traffic data and their opportunities
  • Connected & automated vehicles in the city, including interactions with other modes
  • Flow operations and management during events
  • Traffic flow operations in and around multimodal transfer hubs
  • Traffic flow theory and AI
