TU Delft wins Geospatial Research Institute of the Year award

TU Delft has been chosen as Geospatial Research Institute of the Year 2015. The jury, comprising of renowned professionals, has recognized TU Delft’s crucial role in the field of geospatial technology and it’s applications. Known as the premier GIS science research institute, TU Delft’s contribution in the fields of 3D geoinformation, geomatics applications in civil engineering and urbanism has been vital.

“It is a great honor and recognition to be awarded Geospatial World Leadership Award for Research Institution of the Year 2015. We are delighted to join the exclusive pool of award winners together with ITC Enschede, University of Hannover, Salzburg University, and Wuhan University. The award reflects the quality and width of TU Delft's geomatics research and education spectrum, from data acquisition and positioning to geo-ICT (urban, water management, cadastre, crisis management, etc.),” stated Peter van Oosterom, Research Programme Leader, Geoinformation Technology and Governance, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft University of Technology.

“The jury has recognized the application-oriented research being undertaken with various government departments in the area of transportation, public works, water management, cadastre and land registry and environment. I would like to complement and congratulate the institute, its faculty and the research staff,” said Sanjay Kumar, CEO, Geospatial Media and Communications.

The award shall be presented during Geospatial World Forum on May 25, 2016 at World Trade Centre, Rotterdam.
