23rd of May Kick-off TU Delft Institute for Computational Science and Engineering
New mathematical concepts and advanced models as a new way to discover the world.
Traditional ways of measuring and testing are not sufficient to model for example the human immune system or to predict the climate and the weather.
Computer simulations can investigate areas that are impossible to reach with traditional measuring methods. Computational Science and Engineering is therefore also called “the third way of discovering the world”. The huge computer power to calculate combined with advanced numerical models make computational science and engineering essential for industry and science. Scientists of the TU Delft’s Institute for Computational Science and Engineering Institute (DCSE) bring scientific techniques and simulations together in models that can directly be applied in the industry. The DCSE Kick-off will take place on the 23rd of May in Delft.
Computational Science and Engineering is a fast growing discipline in which applied mathematics, engineering and social sciences are brought together. The expertise of the six faculties of Delft is combined within DCSE in approximately 40 research groups, more than 100 scientists and over 200 promovendi.
