News - 08 March 2017

In the World University Rankings by Subjects published today, TU Delft has two subjects in the top ten: ‘Architecture / Built Environment’ and ‘Engineering – Civil & Structural’. Eight subjects at TU Delft are in the world top 50.

This year TU Delft scores in all 5 Subject Area rankings; these rankings were last published in 2015. In addition, TU Delft features in 13 of the 46 subject rankings, one fewer than previously.

The general QS ranking was published back in September. In this ranking, TU Delft rose two places, from 64 to 62. In 2015, TU Delft was still in 86th place. In the national ranking, TU Delft maintained its second place.

The QS ranking is one of the world’s leading university rankings. Each of the rankings reflects different aspects and is compiled using slightly different indicators. The rankings are primarily important to universities with regard to attracting international talent, as they are regularly consulted by students and researchers from all over the world.

QS bases these Subject Areas and Subject Rankings on the views of academics and employers, combined with the number of times that colleagues cite the work of researchers. For this ranking, QS assessed more than 4,400 universities.
