Frank Schrama receives Williams Award

Frank Schrama – PhD student at the TU Delft (3ME-MSE) received the Williams Award for his paper entitled ‘Sulphur removal in Ironmaking and oxygen steelmaking’ which combines the knowledge and know-how of the steel industry, industry suppliers and academia. Frank Schrama received the award from Martin Cox, president of the British Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

Beunder (Tata Steel, the Netherlands), Bart van den Berg (Danieli Corus), Dr. Yongxiang Yang and Prof. emi. Rob Boom (both 3mE- MSE, TU Delft) all represent one of these fields. Frank Schrama is a PhD student in the MPRR group of Dr. Yang and works full time as a principal researcher at Tata Steel R&D in IJmuiden (the Netherlands). 

Williams Award
The Williams Award is awarded to a paper of particular merit concerned with the manufacture and use of iron and steel. Ironmaking & Steelmaking and Materials Science and Technology editors decide from all papers published in the previous two years, based on recommendations received from the journal editorial boards. Final nomination is approved by the IOM3 Iron and Steel Society and the Materials Science and Technology Division. Read more here.
