On Friday 14 September Damiano Casalino, Full Professor and Chairholder of Aeroacoustics at the faculty, will give his inaugural address. After a short introduction about the need of extending the urban transportation to the third dimension, the inaugural address will focus on a description of the noise generation mechanisms by different concepts of urban air vehicle, and the state of the art in numerical modelling of these mechanisms. Then, research activities will be outlined aimed at developing quiet propulsion concepts, vehicle architectures, and trajectories, also considering the effects of the urban environment on the noise propagation. The presentation will finally present some of the educational initiatives undertaken by the aerospace faculty in support of the UAM field.

Casalino’s inaugural address will take place on Friday 14 September 2018 at 15.00 at the Aula Conference Centre. Staff and students are more than welcome to attend.
