The municipality of Delft and TU Delft will intensify their collaboration on urban area development. “The challenges in urban area development request a close collaboration to achieve breakthroughs faster,” explains professor Co Verdaas.

The municipality of Delft and TU Delft strive to increase the joint strategic and innovative capacities. This can be achieved by bringing together scientific insights and experiences from practice in urban area development. At the Provada real estate fair, the intensified collaboration was signed by professor of Urban Area Development Co Verdaas and the director of Ruimte & Economie of the municipality of Delft, Gido ten Dolle.

With this collaboration, the municipality of Delft strengthens its directing role regarding urban area development. The collaboration also offers the opportunity to directly have access to the necessary innovations for large urban challenges. Co Verdaas: “The partnership creates the possibility to test new insights in practice. This is how we can stimulate innovations in practice from academia, and monitor which innovations work or need to be improved.” The collaboration builds upon the existing covenant between the municipality of Delft and the Executive Board of Delft University of Technology. The collaboration on urban area development is shaped by the department of Management in the Built Environment (MBE) of BK Bouwkunde and the programme ‘Gebiedsontwikkeling’ of the municipality of Delft.
