The Dutch Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) presented the KIVI Academic Society Award to Andy van den Dobbelsteen, professor Climate Design & Sustainability, on 18 March. Van den Dobbelsteen received the award for his years of pioneering in the field of sustainable construction and for his distinctive presence in the debate on climate change.

KIVI director Micaela dos Ramos explains why Van den Dobbelsteen was chosen: “The sustainability of construction is an important topic. We chose Andy van den Dobbelsteen, because he has boosted the debate on this issue for years and has been strikingly involved in the social debate on climate change. He speaks from the content and brings depth to the debate. That is precisely what the KIVI Academic Society Award stands for.” Read the complete statement by KIVI here (Dutch only).
