At the annual Human Factors NL congress early December, IDE graduate Mücahit Aydin received their thesis award 2019. He graduated on monitoring vital signs via the ear with his thesis titled 'Continuous and non-invasive monitoring of vital signs'. For this research, he collaborated with Maasstad Hospital in Rotterdam.

The Human Factors NL jury was impressed by Mücahits approach, the usability of his innovative design and the quality of his thesis rapport: “Al though the wrist is usually used for smart wearables, Mücahit provides solid arguments for utilising the human ear. In close collaboration with Maasstad Hospital, Mücahit managed to develop a concept device which can measure up to five different physiological signs, while also being wearable and comfortable for the intended target group. Mücahit’s thesis excels in usability in both clinical and non-clinical environments, use of innovative 3D scanning techniques and a clearly writing rapport.”

With the thesis award Mücahit wins a prize of € 500, one year Human Factors NL membership and publicity in the magazine. Click here for item on LinkedIn.
