Stratus Seat nominated for the Crystal Cabin Award 2019
In the course Joint Master Project of the faculty of IDE (TU Delft), a student team has undertaken a redesign of the Business Class environment, in collaboration with Safran Seats. Their entry, the ‘Stratus Seat’, is one of the three finalists for the Crystal Cabin Award in the category ‘University’.
The innovative Stratus Seat can not only be ergonomically tilted, it can also be turned into a standing desk for completing office work. The JMP team consists of: Clément Heinen, Iris Groot Koerkamp, Tibbe Titulaer, Roël Tibosch and Bart Verhees and has been coached by former IDE employee Sebastiaan van den Elshout and IDE researcher Joyce Bouwens. Safran Seats has filed a patent for the Stratus Seat.
94 projects had already qualified for the shortlist. 24 projects, divided over 8 categories, are through to the final. On 2 April, the finalists will present their entry to the international expert jury in the Hamburg Exhibition Center during the Aircraft Interiors Expo (2-4 april).
The Crystal Cabin Award is the international prize for innovations in the field of aircraft cabins and passenger experience.
