Juan Durán wins prestigious Herbert Simon award

Researcher Juan Durán received the prestigious Herbert Simon award from the International Association for Computing and Philosophy (IACAP). He received this award for his work on the philosophy of computer simulations. His research focuses on the scientific explanation for computer simulations. Since obtaining his PhD in 2013, he has published in several journals and book chapters on different topics advancing the philosophy of computer simulations. Durán has recently released an authored book and is special editor for the issue on “The societal and ethical dimension of computer simulations” for the journal SIMULATION

About the award

The Herbert A. Simon Award for Outstanding Research in Computing and Philosophy recognizes scholars at an early stage of their academic career who are likely to reshape debates at the nexus of Computing and Philosophy by their original research. The candidacy of Durán was independently proposed by the governing board of the IACAP.
