Scott Cunningham and Cees van Beers received 154,000 euro funding for the BigProd project (total budget of 1 million euro), which was funded by H2020.

BigProd deals with the problem that although the European Union hosts some of the world’s most innovative economies, still its innovations are failing to deliver increased productivity, higher growth, and better wages for European citizens like they once did. Why is this occurring and what can be done to address any shortfall?

BigProd aims to extend existing econometric approaches to productivity with theoretically sound “Big data” measures that are operationalized, validated through pilots and communicated to relevant stakeholders. This is achieved by uncovering the origins of the productivity slowdown in most Western economies. The model created will be operationalized using a random stratified sample of 160,000-200,000 European companies.
