Renovation Outdoor Area X

Last Wednesday, 25 September, the redesign of the outdoor area of X started. In order to keep X liveable and accessible, the work will be carried out in various phases. The planning of the work takes into account the planned activities, events and the outdoor sports season. The redesign will be completed in the summer of 2020.

The illustration shows the order of work, numbered consecutively. You can see that some work will be carried out in stages. This is necessary to keep facilities as accessible as possible. Whatever phase the work is in, at the end of a working day we always ensure that a safe passage to the sports fields is available (using temporary paving or gangways if necessary). Because the activities on the sports fields mainly take place in the late afternoon and evening hours, the nuisance due to this measure remains limited.

Explanation of some of the phases:

• 1 to 5: Pathways around the soccer and hockey fields - 25 September to December 2019
  In the first five phases, the pathways and lighting around the soccer and hockey fields will be renewed. Compacting the paving may cause some noise nuisance.
  
  
• 6: Campus Farm - mid-October 2019 to February 2020
  During this phase the Campus Farm will not be accessible. The Gardening course will be moved to the patio of Freetown.
  
  
• 9: Front square - February to May 2020
  Work on the front square and surroundings will take place in phases in order to main optimum access to the bike racks, the terrace and the main entrance.
