Maaike Kleinsmann appointed Professor in Design of Digital Transformation

On 27 February 2020, Maaike Kleinsmann was appointed as Full Professor in Design of Digital Transformation at the Design, Organisation and Strategy department of the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (TU Delft).

“I’m very happy with this new appointment, as a token of appreciation for my contribution to design research. In my new role I want to further research and expand the impact of design on digital transformation. My focus for the coming years will be healthcare and digital transformation.

Professor Kleinsmann has over fifteen years of experience with research projects on collaborative design and design thinking in innovation (networks). She leads the TU Delft Cardiolab, a Delft Design Lab which is a collaboration between Philips Design and Industrial Design Engineering TU Delft, supported by the Dutch Heart Foundation. In the Cardiolab she works closely with medical professionals of Erasmus Medical Centre Rotterdam and the Leiden University Medical Centre. She is also Theme Leader CardioTech at the Delft Health Initiative. Besides her work for TU Delft, Professor Kleinsmann is active as co-director of the Design Society’s Special Interest Group Health Systems Design. In 2019 she chaired the International Conference on Engineering Design (ICED19).
