How to prevent soft toys from ending up in landfills? MSc student Stacey Yip developed Pecu: a do-it-yourself kit for parents, with which they can give a plush animal new life. By adding new elements to the cuddly toys, they not only last longer, but parents and children can discuss the impact of human activity on animals. Stacey has won a prestigious iF Design Award for her project.

The iF World Design Guide jury said about the design: "Pecu is an upcycling tool with a strong moral-ethical message". "I aspire to do better for the planet with my designs which promote play – instilling subtle behavioral changes in the process" states Yip in response to winning the award.
