Professor David Keyson appointed Diversity Officer

The Executive Board has appointed IDE’s Professor David Keyson as Diversity Officer as of 1 September 2020. He succeeds Professor Rinze Benedictus who has held this position for the past three years.

The role of Diversity Officer was created to promote diversity, inclusion and equality at TU Delft. “Rinze Benedictus has shaped this new role excellently during the past years. We hereby thank him warmly for his pioneering work,” says Vice Rector Magnificus Rob Mudde. “It is up to David Keyson to continue the dialogue on this subject and to further promote and anchor diversity and inclusion as core values in all parts of the organization.”

In the coming years David Keyson will further shape the university's diversity policy and expand the diversity network inside and outside the organization. David Keyson will take up this challenge with conviction: “There is an awareness in the organization that a lot still needs to be done to become a better reflection of society, a place where all feel welcome regardless of their background. From that starting point we now have to bring about concrete changes. This is a big challenge, but one that I am looking forward to enormously and view as a very positive move. Diversity ultimately benefits the intellectual mission of TU Delft by enriching knowledge and creativity. For research this means tackling hard problems, bringing in different viewpoints and approaches. Learning and understanding different viewpoints is also vital to our education.”
